From Hale to Manchester… and Wherever the Job Takes Me

One of the questions I am often asked is:
"Where do you actually work?"
The answer is simple.
While many of my clients are based in Hale, Altrincham and Bowdon, my work rarely stays within those postcode boundaries.
The role of a modern-day butler, concierge, trusted assistant or household manager is not tied to a single location. It is tied to solving problems, creating solutions and providing support wherever it is needed.
This week was a perfect example.
One morning I found myself in the heart of Manchester's skyline, surrounded by some of the city's tallest residential towers. The client was overseas, yet a tenancy issue required someone on the ground who could be trusted to represent their interests, liaise with the relevant parties and ensure matters were handled properly.
That is where having a trusted pair of hands becomes invaluable.
It is not always glamorous. Sometimes it involves carrying out property inspections, coordinating contractors, collecting keys, checking apartments, meeting tenants or dealing with unexpected issues that arise while an owner is travelling abroad.
In this case, it meant navigating lifts, corridors and management offices to make sure everything was resolved efficiently while the client remained thousands of miles away.
The colourful collection of keys in the photograph tells its own story.
Every key represents responsibility.
A property owner who trusts someone else to access their building.
A family who needs reassurance that someone reliable can step in when required.
A client who knows that problems can be dealt with without interrupting their holiday, business trip or life abroad.
Trust is at the heart of everything I do.
While one day may involve managing property matters in central Manchester, another might involve organising a private event in London, coordinating suppliers for a family celebration, or supporting a client with a project closer to home in Hale, Bowdon or Altrincham.
Earlier this year, for example, I travelled to London to oversee catering and event operations at the Tower of London — a privilege and responsibility that came through exactly the same principle: trust.
Clients are not buying geography.
They are buying peace of mind.
They are buying the confidence that when something needs doing, there is someone dependable who can simply get it done.
That might be a property in Manchester.
A family home in Cheshire.
A private event in London.
Or somewhere entirely different.
The destination changes.
The responsibility remains the same.
