25 Years, One Celebration, Made Possible by Many

Over the last few days, I’ve found myself reflecting on the recent 25th anniversary celebration for McHale & Co, and I’ve come to realise something.=
I think I may initially have got the story slightly wrong.
At first, I thought this was a story about the huge amount of effort I personally put into helping deliver the event — and yes, I did put a huge amount into it, because I wanted to make sure everything we did was absolutely right.
But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve realised this event was never really about one business, one supplier, or one individual.
It was about a team.
It was about what can happen when a successful local business chooses to support the very community that helped build it.
McHale & Co were celebrating 25 years in business — a fantastic milestone and a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to the people who have helped them along the way: their staff, their families and their clients.
What really struck me was the way they chose to celebrate.
They could easily have gone to bigger national suppliers or large corporate event companies. It might even have been easier.
But they didn’t.
Instead, they chose local.
They chose to back independent businesses from Altrincham, Bowdon and the wider Cheshire area — businesses they knew, businesses they trusted, and businesses they genuinely wanted to support.
I really admire that ethos.
In a world where bigger can often feel safer or easier, there is something very special about a successful business remembering where it came from and continuing to invest in the community around it.
And what a team it turned out to be.
Ewe and Me Marquees created the setting, transforming the space beautifully and giving the whole event its focal point. Duncan Dickinson Catering delivered superb classic canapés and elegant evening food. Brynleys Catering Services helped keep the wider setup on track alongside the team at Bowdon Cricket Club, quietly making sure the countless moving parts all came together. Reg’s Coffee kept guests fuelled throughout the day with excellent coffees and much-appreciated iced lattes, especially in the warm weather. The Guinness mini truck from Elk Bar added a brilliant talking point and brought a real sense of fun to the celebration. Pinky Bay Dream brought smiles with their beautiful traditional 99 ice creams, while Cheshire Hay Bale Hire added those finishing touches that gave the day real character and warmth.

And then there was us at Little Red Pizza Co, serving wood-fired pizzas and barbecue during the afternoon.
As one of the smaller businesses involved, I felt hugely proud to be trusted with such an important part of the day.
And trust matters.
When somebody puts their faith in you, especially for an event that means so much to them, you naturally want to repay that trust by giving everything you’ve got.
That was certainly the case for me.
There were moments where we had to dig deep, think on our feet and work well outside our comfort zone. But often, that is where the best results come from.
What guests saw on the day was a brilliant celebration full of great food, happy families, laughter and a fantastic atmosphere.
What they probably didn’t see were all the moving parts behind the scenes — the planning, coordination, problem-solving and sheer hard work needed to make everything come together.
That, for me, was the real takeaway.
Great events rarely happen because of one person.
They happen because good people work hard, trust one another and pull together.
One celebration brought everyone together, but it was the contribution of many that made it memorable.

Congratulations to McHale & Co on 25 successful years in business, and thank you for reminding us all just how powerful it can be when local businesses choose to back one another.
